Grant Guidelines and Application ProceduresPlease note that the ACIS Grants program is not currently considering proposalsPurpose: The main purpose of the grants is to promote the ACIS and to create and sustain new members. Grants are limited to support of only the following: Conference hosts wishing to subsidize speakers (including travel costs) for Irish Studies events; Exhibitions (including art, archives, films, performances); financial support for conference host sponsorship of graduate students presenting in Irish Studies (usually some portion/match of conference registration, travel, housing); subvention of publication for conference packets; and exhibitions, including performances, readings, screenings, and art or archival exhibitions. Monies will not be granted for support of independent research, nor should monies be applied to cover the costs of publicity, computer/technology fees, ACIS national and regional conferences, phone bills, or faxes. Monies will not be granted to support academic publications. The grant must be applied to the direct advancement of the goals of the ACIS. Procedure: Proposals will be considered biannually. Due dates for submission of proposals are October 1 and March 1. Applicants will be notified of the award decision within 3 weeks of the submission deadline. Preference will be given to new applicants but prior applicants are encouraged to reapply. Conditions: Anyone receiving a grant will be required to announce his or her event on the ACIS web site. When a member of the ACIS executive requests a grant, he/she must recuse himself/herself from both the discussion and voting. Each proposal should include a statement about the applicant's organization and how it will promote ACIS. Grant recipients are required to acknowledge the sponsorship of ACIS in their promotional materials and must include the ACIS brochure in their materials. Grant recipients are encouraged, but not required, to include the ACIS logo in their promotional materials. Grant recipients are required to submit a brief report to the ACIS President and include materials associated with the event--program, flyers, newspaper reports, etc. How Much Can I Apply For? The cap is $1500 per grant. You can apply for any amount up to $1500. The ACIS Executive will decide on the amount awarded to your organization. |
